Accessibility

Purevise should work for everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboards, magnification or high contrast. If something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it.

Conformance status

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Purevise is partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and the limitations we know of are listed below.

What we do

  • Every change to the site is checked automatically against WCAG 2.1 A and AA with axe-core, on desktop and phone screen sizes, before it goes live.
  • Text and controls meet the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, and text grows on larger screens.
  • Sizes are relative, so your browser’s text-size and zoom settings are respected.
  • Controls are real buttons and links, so they work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip-to-content link.
  • Pop-ups close with Escape and never appear within your first moments on a page.
  • The site works with browser translation, and animations are reduced when you ask your device to.

Known limitations

  • Product photos come from the stores and brands we compare. Their text alternative is the product’s brand and name; we do not describe the photo itself.
  • Store websites: you check out on each store’s own site, which we do not control.
  • Screen readers: we have not yet tested the site with a screen reader end to end. Automated checks cover labels and structure, but not everything a person would notice.

Compatibility

Tested automatically in Chromium (the engine behind Chrome and Edge) and WebKit (the engine behind Safari), at desktop and phone sizes. The site is built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA, and relies on them to be accessible.
